Sometimes the girls think it would be fun to make it as messy as humanly possible
In the spirit of "Playing Library" I let them...
They put them all in stacks in alphabetical order by book title...
They wiped out this shelf completely
and when it was time to clean up - they all went back on in classic Lauren style...if you are not familiar with that you can find it posted it here...

WOW! Love playing library...the girls have inspired me to go home and reshelve in more organized fashion!
oo my books are a mess.. Sammy's books are everywhere.. but I certainly don't have as many as you! I do have a spreadsheet w/ all of them in there with Title, author, genre, and # of pages.. cause im a little OCD :-P
Can you send the girls here? Our bookshelves could use some order. My daughter would love being in your house...this is right up her alley.

what a great organizer! personally, i arrange my books by...wait for it...COLOR! :) i love the way it looks and the books in that particular shelf are my very favorites so i know the covers and can find them easily.
in my office upstairs, i have a smaller bookcase that is organized by review date. each shelf is a month and the books are arranged on each shelf by review date. have to keep myself organized!

I used to play library all the time when I was a kid. I even used index cards to make a pocket in the back of the book for the "check out card". My mom kept them and it was so funny to see all the names of "people" I checked them out to with the dates and all.
And by the way, I too organize the bookshelf based on size and height. It's the only way to go!
I used to play library all the time when I was little! I totally forgot about that until you wrote this. I used to even have little cards so people could "check out" the books...
That bedroom looks super cute - is that a mural on the wall behind the bed? I'd love to see more - I'm getting ready to re-decorate my big girl's room. :)
