sharing the misery...

So we post all our crafty things we do and people want to know what I do with them all -

I am brave...

I shared the corners they sit in till I toss them (keeping my favs of course) and since I post all the Lego projects people also wonder where in the world we house all those too!

I would love to tell you that I have a whole room dedicated simply to Lego building, playing and storage...

Truth is I actually have an empty room that could be used for this but it isn't...

so what do we do with them?

Well, they are EVERYWHERE...The Robot and the Eiffel Tower are in the "Butler's Pantry" and since I don't have (and probably never will) a butler this counter top is always a catch all for any project!!!

The built in shelves, above where I am typing right now, are home to many of the smaller sets.  Like the Town Plan, the Car Wash, a few Helicopters, and way back are some Pirate sets...

the sets above and below come down and get put back up often...right now they are on the dining room table for some good play time!

we also have boxes EVERYWHERE...most of them are in the basement, some on shelves and some in a tub.  If there is one thing I have learned in a house of Lego Girls...DON'T throw away the box or the instructions! If catastrophe hits you MUST be able to come to the rescue!

In addition to what you have seen so far we have a basket full of "free play" Legos  - the girls dump this out and I put it all back in at least 3 times a week!  I don't mind though - I kind of like it!

Around the Holidays these Legos were sorted by Miss Lauren for some Holiday Lego building fun...they were stored under her desk so her sister wouldn't "steal" them!

and I am too lazy to snap a new photo right now but my Mantel and Hearth are also full of Lego cars, planes, and currently the City Corner that Hailey just built!

So there you have it.

The Legos are everywhere -

is it ideal?

No, but I tell you what - I figure in about 14 years I will have all the time in the world to have a neat, tidy and clutter free home -for now I have two daughters that love to make, create and build and if it means all the corners are full - so be it!

And speaking of Legos and Daughters...Miss Lauren would LOVE to have some or all of the Harry Potter Legos...of course they aren't making them anymore, of course I can find them on EBay at a 400% markup...but - I would rather beg plead and pry the Internet world...if you know ANYONE with any of these sets that would like to sell them (at a lesser markup) used or not I would really like to talk to them! She has a birthday in June and boy oh boy - I would love to see the smile on her face if I had some of these for her!!!

Thanks for sharing your lego storage. I like how you have bookcases to display them. I am tired of looking at them on my dining room - we've moved the sets to the basement but I'm afraid when the kids have friends over (the younger ones) will demolish the sets. We also save the instructions and cut the pic off the box but store most sets in ziplocs.

Thank you for the Lego tour! I often wondered where the wonderful creations were stored. And, Terra, you are so right - we can have clean homes later but why not let them play and enjoy this time.
You have beautifully decorated home!

I think this is going to be my house in a few years! By the way, our library just sent out a request for people to donate their unused legos because they are going to start having classes and competitions with them. I can't wait!

aww so fun! I love that their projects are all through the house. You are so right that some day they wont be and you might as well enjoy them while you can :-)

Loved your Lego tour...oh, I do miss the days of Legos, so cherish it while you can.

Best toy in the world, in my book!
