What I learned this week...Broccoli Salt and Simple Pleasures

What I learned this week is brought to you by JoLynn at Musings of a Housewife

This week I learned that Broccoli Cheese soup can be completely RUINED if you follow the recipe and use 1/4 cup of salt.  YES, 1/4 cup - OMG - it was horrible.

I have also spent a little time compiling a list of "simple pleasures" and I would love to hear some of yours!  Do tell, do tell...

A Full Tank of Gas
A Sharp Pencil

My Favorite song on radio
Chocolate

Smiling at anothers good news
Cuddling up with a good book
Big snowflakes
Chocolate

A thank you wave from another driver
A Note in the mail

No dirty laundry
Chocolate

Bowl of hot soup
Chocolate
Swinging on a swing set

When your jeans fit
Chocolate
A drink with an umbrella in it

Chocolate

Oh boy...sorry about your soup. I love your list and I think someone needs some chocolate ;) I'd love a drink with an umbrella along with the weather that accompanies it.

Mmmmm. Chocolate!

I added 1/4 cup of salt to cookies once. Ooops.

I loved how chocolate reappeared often on your list.

Setting a goal and reaching it.
Reconnecting with a friend that you lost touch with.
Vanilla cupcake Febreeze.
Checking the dvr and finding a new show has taped.
A hug and a kiss for no reason at all but just because your little one wants to. : )

OH my goodness! I'm in awe about the 1/4 cup of salt. It had to have been a misprint! Yuck!
And I love the same things you do. Especially CHOCOLATE!

a newly cleaned home
being in the moutains and watching the snow fall
quiet time to just sit, maybe with a book or to listen to music, or to simply sit with my thoughts
the smell of vanilla

Definitely agree about the chocolate and many of your simple pleasures. I love the smell and look of freshly washed floors too.

Oh no! Too much salt! That sucks!

I would put "no dirty laundry" on my list of that ever happened around here ;o)

But I do love it when there are NO dirty dishes in my sink. It fills me with more joy then it should...lol

I loved your list of simple pleasures. They made me smile, and chocolate would definitely be on mine!

1/4 cup! Ugh!!! Actually I recall a similar error in 7th grade home ec...I've never forgotten how awful a particular smoothie was when we accidently used salt rather than sugar...

OMG! 1/4 cup?!? WOW!!! Simple pleasures...hm...getting an errand run without my toddler having a meltdown, sleeping during nap time or at night and waking up on my own rather than by a two year old's cries for "mommy!", clean kitchen counters, having exactly what I'm craving in the house!

Great list :)

I would add a few:

Walking through crunchy leaves in autum.

The sweet smell of rain after a dry spell

Warm feet!!! (I hate it when my feet are cold!)

I want to thank you for pointing out a posting error(although the way you did it was kind of hurtful). And I apologizing for ruining your day with an error. It should have read 1/4 tsp salt. Next time I know to triple check a recipe before posting.

I would say "ditto" to all of your simple pleasures. I would add "the smell of a brand new book." Especially a kids picture book. The boys always roll their eyes at me when they catch me sniffing a new book but I've caught them doing the same thing!

Sorry about your soup. That is such a disappointment!

Oh, simple pleasures! I loved seeing your list and the commenters.

Some of mine...
Red polish on my toes
Raspberry mochas
Anything pumpkin
Fresh sheets
A compliment from my husband
My son's belly laugh
Browsing the bookstore or library (for hours. by myself.)
